To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to submit a public comment regarding the current quarry destruction and proposed expansion in Gilmer County currently under review for 401 Water Quality Certification.

I have significant concerns about the potential impacts of this project on water quality, watershed integrity, and the surrounding North Georgia mountain environment.

Specifically, I request clarification and careful evaluation of the following:

• Potential impacts to streams, tributaries, and downstream water systems
• Increased sedimentation and runoff associated with expanded quarry operations
• Long-term effects on watershed function and regional hydrology

In addition, given the likelihood of impacts to waters that may fall under federal jurisdiction, I respectfully request confirmation as to whether this project requires authorization under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and whether a jurisdictional determination has been completed.

If federal permitting is required, I urge coordination with appropriate federal agencies and a comprehensive review of all direct, indirect, and cumulative impacts.

I also request that cumulative impacts be fully considered, including the combined effects of existing and proposed quarry operations, as well as increased heavy truck traffic along Highway 515.

This project represents a significant and potentially permanent change to the region. Careful and thorough review is essential to ensure protection of water resources and the surrounding community.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide input.
